Finding edges

Next trick. It all started with a simple desaturate exercise...

This is borderline to being too graphic, photography wise, but that's not a concern to me. Any how, I took one of my Venice photos (this one from Grand Canal most famous bridge) and created a two layer on top of the background. On background I applied "Find Edges". Then I set the two top layers to "Hard Light". After that it's just a matter of setting the opacities of the layers right. And that's it.

This kind of a trick only works on certain kind of images, for example I doubt it would work on some images containing modern architecture etc.
