Grayscale

I made some tests with converting color images to grayscale. PhotoShop and Paint Shop Pro both have their easy-to-use one touch conversion, but why make it easy ;)

The pro way to do it is to use Channel Mixer in monochrome mode. This can really spark up the grayscale images. In the sample image there are four pics from Venice.

The original one and then three grayscale ones. Each one of the grays has different amount of a certain color. The ratio is 80% /10% / 10%. The total amount should sum up to 100% for natural results.

The differences are pretty subtle, but still there. I like the 80% red most. There just the right amount of contrast, for example the 80% green looses contrast in water and poles. The 80% blue is pretty close to red one, but slightly lighter.

On dog news, Nero had managed to get the living room door open during the day. Thank God, the damages were limited to few ripped magazines and some drool on pillows. Could have be en worse.
